Layered Beach Waves with a See-Through Laminate Effect

Layered Beach Waves with a See-Through Laminate Effect

This stunning layered ocean spread is one of the most impressive techniques in junk journaling and it's easier than it looks! The secret is a see-through laminate sheet that makes it look like treasures have washed ashore right on your journal page.

What You Need

  • A water or ocean background (or blue paper)
  • A sand or beach background
  • Summer and beach themed stickers like shells, starfish, or sea glass
  • Laminate sheets
  • A laminating machine
  • Washi tape or other decoration you like

Start by selecting your papers. Place your beach or sand background across the center of a two-page spread, leaving a wide strip of journal paper visible at the top. Take your blue or ocean paper and rip it carefully. Ripping towards the opposite side creates a beautiful white ripped border that mimics a natural wave edge. Place this on top of the beach background, slightly to the left. Repeat this three times to build up your layered wave effect.

Turn two pages forward and place your second beach background here. This will become the shoreline where the waves come in. Now for the magic: place a laminate sheet on the right side of the first page so it overlaps the visible journal paper section. Open the sheet and arrange your shell stickers, sea glass, and summer decorations inside, then run it through your laminating machine. Trim away the pages in between your two beach backgrounds, and glue your laminated sheet in the gap.

The result? A breathtaking layered ocean spread where it looks like the waves are rolling in and washing beautiful treasures ashore. A show-stopping summer holiday journal page that will impress everyone who sees it! 🐚🌿
